"When we least expect it, life sets us a challenge to test our courage and willingness to change; at such a moment, there is no point in pretending that nothing has happened or in saying that we are not ready. The challenge will not wait. Life does not look back.” - Paulo Coelho

Some Famous Landmarks and Monuments

November 6, 2007

Eiffel Tower, France

The metal tower, 300 meters high, was built for the centennial exposition in 1889. It is the most famous work of French Engineer Alexandre Gustave-Eiffel. The tower was originally disliked but has become one of the great Parisian landmarks.

Statue of Liberty

The statue of a woman holding a torch in her hand stands on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. It was designed by Frederic Bartnoldi, a French architect and sculptor. It was built to commemorate the French and American Revolutions.

Sydney Opera House

The opera house is one of Australia’s premier landmarks. This was designed by Danish-born architect Jorn Utzon. The design itself is made to resemble white billowing sails.

I’ve been to Statue of Liberty once. Sulit pumunta sa Liberty Island because not only will you get to see the Statue itself, but you’ll also be going to Ellis Island to see the many-years defunct immigration office (I forgot what it’s called). It’s also a landmark and documents immigration and great depression VERY well.
