Ilonggo Designer’s House Featured in Magazine
October 8, 2007'A charming hideaway in Iloilo is a weary soul's sanctuary' - quoted form MyHome Magazine.
Visitors from Manila were amazed with this house in Oton, Province of Iloilo. The design which is Asian inspired and a design for the tropics suits the laidback life here in the province. The grounds are beautifully landscaped, and there's a large fishpond in front of the deck.
The designer is the owner itself, Joemarie Yao.
The pond & the outdoor living area is a cool place for relaxation.

Prayer for Security
October 7, 2007Dear God,
The world may shout at me that I am one insecure person. That I don't have contentment and still aims for more. That I sometimes isolate myself and feel unloved.
I even (sometimes) want to wake up one morning that bad memories will no longer be remembered. And the past that still haunts me will completely be erased in my mind. That certain past even made me compete with anything and everything on anyone - because I don't want to be called a loser. And I'm afraid to realize that it's only myself I'm competing with.
But it's always You who teaches me to love myself and it's You who will have to be the center of all rather than I. Above all, I thank You for the things You gave me and will give me - the persons I have now, the creativity I want to share and the future that awaits me.
Please touch my heart.
The Notes from Angelina Jolie’s Travels
October 1, 2007After reading Bianca's blog, I searched for a copy of Angelina Jolie's book, Notes from My Travels. For me, she's blessed to be the Goodwill Ambassador for UNCHR (UN High Commissioner for Refugees. And I'm glad I've read parts of her journey to Africa, Cambodia, Pakistan and Ecuador.
Her mission to Africa:
"At lunchtime, I went to a small market to buy some local crafts. While standing in one place too long my ankles began to itch. They were being bitten by bugs so small I couldn't even see them. In some areas the smell was rancid. I felt sick. The strength of survival here is amazing to me. They don't complain. They don't even beg. Contrary to our image of this country, its people are civilized, strong, proud, stunning people. Any aggressive feeling is pure survival."
"Army helicopters are the only aircraft in this airport. Finally we landed in Freetown, Sierra Leone. As we drove through the streets we spoke of what has been happening here. Revolutionary United Front (RUF) called it "Project No Living Thing."
I notice hundreds of people walking through the streets holding hands–survivors!
Painted on cars is GOD IS GREAT and LOVE FOR EVERYONE–HATE NO MORE.
You would think these would be the last people on earth to believe that, and yet you realize they have a deeper understanding because of all they went through. "
"Girls are educated and taught skills. They are being helped to be independent. Most of these young women were abducted and raped. When I was in the classroom I was introduced as the Good Will Ambassador with UNHCR. Maya, the woman with me, was introduced as the protection officer with UNHCR. All the young women were very welcoming. It was then explained to them that I am also an actress from California. The woman who runs the school told them I was there to learn about them so I can support their programs.
They hardly know any movies. I hadn't wanted it brought up, but it did seem that my being an actress made my visit more fun for them. What I do is a strange job for them to imagine doing. Sometimes being an actress seems strange to me too, but I was happy about it today."
And here are the words she wrote that touched me, too. These lines are written at the back cover of the book.
And here are excerpts from other travels.
Her travel to Jordan:
"At home, I looked up Human Rights Day it led me to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It begins, “Whereas recognition on the inherent dignity and of the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.” I encourage anyone reading this to look it up if you haven’t already. And if you have maybe read it again as I did.'
Her travel to Sri Lanka:
'We visit a younger group of girls, they all have lovely, smiling faces. What have
you done today I ask? “Got up, showered, prayed to God, had breakfast, and studied.” They tell me they love to sing so I ask them for a song. They sing and clap in their language. I ask a translator what the song means. I realize it is
Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star. Oh! They sing again, this time in English. It’s one of
the sweetest things I have ever heard. '
'Tiny little kids are gathered in a door way, like all kids that age. Just the sight of them makes you smile; they are so curious and playful. I’m the newest person so they are testing me out. Coming close and looking, then backing away. I’m not sure how to break the ice, so I draw a silly picture in my notebook and show it to them.'
Her travel to Kosovo:
'Our journey from Croatia was very difficult; many people were leaving. Around 700,000 Serbs left Croatia at the same time. A lot of bad thins happened during the trip. A lot of people died and were left along the road. There was no time to bury them. Women had babies. They could only stop to have them, and then they had to get up and keep walking.” She was looking down and says “some died.” What are you hopes now, I ask? After last year, their family was pushing to be sent to a country abroad but they were denied. “So then we try to have local integration but what will that be like? We don’t know when they will rebuild Serb homes. We don’t know if we have to be on a list to maybe get one. So maybe we stay here.”

Prayer to the Great Architect
Read one architect's blog and I want to post his prayer. This is a good prayer, I think. But number one still is May I Always Build as the architects' creed.
To the Great Architect and Designer of all the things we have…AMEN.
Most Holy and glorious Lord God, The Great Architect of the Universe, the giver of all good gifts and graces. Thou hast promised where two or three are gathered together in thy name thou wilt be in the midst of them and bless them. In thy name we assemble most humbly beseeching thee to bless us in all our undertakings, that we may know and serve thee aright and that all our actions may tend to thy glory and our advancement in knowledge and virtue. And we beseech the o lord to bless our present assemblage and illuminate our minds by the divine precepts of Freemasonry and direct us so to walk in the light of thy divine countenance that when the trials of our probationary state are over, we may be admitted, into the temple, not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. So mote it be, Amen.
The (Good) Reasons to Forgive Your Guy/Girl for Cheating
September 28, 2007"A cheater cheats himself"
So why am I writing this? Because it happens or maybe happening to some right now. Let's get to facts (thought I hate cheating).
Been there, done that? Almost but not quite? Well, I'm just thankful that God gives me strength and keeps me away from temptations. Plus, I would find it hard to fix things. I'm not ready to face consequences it if happens to me, too.
From a girls point of view, I will enumerate reasons.
1. Long-distance love
It's hard - the distance, the longing, the 'I need-you-but-you're-not-here-physically' thing. There are many who gives up.
2. Attention
Who doesn't love it? Even, I would be the first to raise my hand and say 'yes'. I want attention.
You know, your guy/girl is busy. It's mushy you've been together for so long and now you're still looking for attention. There are so many things to attend to… REASONS.
3. There are things 'new' to the 'other' person
It's the opposite of the word 'boring' or being bored to what you're used to.
Many would say, 'we do the same things over and over again'. And this other person shows you that there is this world outside which is new and interesting! And you're tired of just dinner in a resto, hanging out at the mall, watch movies…
4. The excitement
To support number 4. So this is the 'term'. Adrenalins rushing. Hearts pumping. The feeling is intense. There's (temporary) happiness and satisfaction. And it's like playing hide-and-seek!
5. 'I'm drunk!'
Excuses, excuses. He/she will say 'I was weak' or I'm under the influence of 'whatever-that-**** is' 'And I'm sooo sorry for doing this'
The fix? You end your relationship or you give the person the chance. That depends if you believe in 'once a cheater, always a cheater' saying.
To sum it up, giving the person one last chance is a risk. Because it's hard to forgive and harder to forget.
